Thunderhill

Editorial typeface designed for the 2020 Performance Car of the Year issue for Road & Track Magazine.

This typeface was named after the Thunderhill racetrack in northern California. It was inspired by elongated numerals used at the track as well as the extended letterforms painted on roadways intended to be seen at a low vantage point.

Thunderhill was developed into three weights — starting from a low contrast text weight based on the original references. Additional higher contrast weights were then also added for typesetting headlines.
